Pre and Post‑Natal Pilates in Suffolk: What to Expect
Pregnant or recently postpartum and looking for Pilates in Bury St Edmunds or Suffolk? Here's how we adapt the work safely through each trimester and beyond.

Pilates is one of the kindest, most adaptable forms of movement you can do during pregnancy and through the long, strange, wonderful months that follow. Our Bury St Edmunds teachers hold continuing education in pre and post‑natal Pilates and work with clients across Suffolk — from Newmarket to Stowmarket — at every stage.
During pregnancy
If you've been doing Pilates already, you can almost certainly carry on — we'll just modify as the trimesters move along. If you're new, we recommend starting with a 1‑to‑1 session so we can build a safe, tailored programme from day one, then joining suitable small‑group classes if you'd like.
After birth
- · We typically wait for your 6–8 week check (or 10–12 weeks after a c‑section) before returning to the mat or reformer.
- · Early sessions focus on breath, gentle pelvic floor work and reconnecting the deep core — not crunches.
- · We screen for diastasis recti and adapt the work around what we find.
Bring the baby?
Private sessions can sometimes accommodate a small baby in a car seat — please ask. Group classes are best enjoyed child‑free, but we keep the schedule flexible enough that most parents can find an hour that works.
